Ron Jon Easter Surfing Festival Someone once said there are two things in life that are guaranteed: death and taxes. Whoever said this didn't surf because otherwise he'd have mentioned the Annual Ron Jon Easter Surfing Festival that's been held for the past 42 years in Cocoa Beach, Florida. The event is the 2nd longest running surfing event on the East Coast falling a year short of the East Coast Surfing Championships (ECSC) in Virginia Beach. The three day contest this year started off with a 3 to 4 foot wind swell created by a low pressure system off the Central Bahamas and a lingering high that was hanging off the coast of Hatteras. These two systems sent 20 knot easterly winds to the Space Coast all week prior to the event. The surf eventually dropped off slightly during the weekend but a good time was had by all.
