*VIRTUAL BUOY SPECIAL NOTE: Surf heights are measured on the wave face. As a general rule always look to the first number of the surf report for the average size of the surf.
For example, when a report says it is 3-6 feet, the surf will generally be 3-feet at most breaks. However, the possibility of a 6-foot wave exists at the top surf spots which pick up the largest amount of swell for the particular swell direction, during the peak of the swell.
- 3 feet = Knee to waist high
- 6 feet = Head high
- 8-10 feet = Over head
- 12 feet = Double over head
This drop down has a slew
weather related pop-ups.
These are great for
comparing what you hear with
what is really happening.
