2006 National Championships: Shops to Watch
| 2006
Southeast Champions |
 |
Sunrise
Surf Shop: Headed by double-whammy artist Robert
Rohman and Jason Motes, Sunrise edged out 2-time undefeated
champions Quiet Flight for this year’s Southeast Regional
championship title. An avid supporter of local surf talent,
this team possesses an illustrious aerial repertoire and competitive
drive. With a focus on the local surfer and surf community,
and some serious North Florida pride, look for Sunrise to
come on strong in this year’s national event. |

Hawaii Champions |
 |
Board
Riders: After finishing second behind a blazing hot
Pacific Vibrations team last year, the Board Riders squad came
into 2006 looking to avenge their runner up finish. With plenty
of pride and an overwhelming desire to surpass last year’s
result, they did just that, and now they’ll take the fire
that won them the Hawaiian qualifier on the road and focus it
on the ultimate prize in California. |

Central/Northwest Champions |
 |
Revolution: Ventura’s Revolution won
the whole show in 2004, but last year, courtesy of Katin, they
fell short of the finals by a hair. After losing in the Central
/ Northwest qualifier by less than a point in ‘05, they
came back out in 2006 with something to prove. In a closely
fought final, Revolution reclaimed the Central / Northwest crown,
and now are looking to repeat on 2004, taking back a national
championship they never had a chance to defend. |
| 2006
Southwest Champions |
 |
Huntington Surf and Sport: Continuing the trend
of ousting last year’s regional champs was HSS. After
a third place finish in 2005, HSS, which sits in prime position
for access to the best waves and talent Huntington has to offer,
did everything in their power in search of a finals birth. Earlier
this summer they found one, and with an extremely solid roster
led by Brett Simpson, this shop could be unstoppable. |

Northeast Champions |
 |
WRV Virginia Beach: WRV Team Manager and former
WCT Top 16 pro, Wes Laine, led his Virginia Beach squad to victory
in New Jersey this year, and will be looking to do the same
on the national stage next week in California. With experience
on their side, WRV is looking to take the QSSC’s highest
honor home to the East Coast. |
