2006 Billabong Pro Tahiti
A little tough to choose my team for this event guys. I
really wanted to pick Kelly. I think there is a very good
probability he will win. I couldn't make it work with
the salary cap. I really like my team though, just got
to pray for surf so my boys can get nutz!
Andy Irons - Natural ability, contest savvy and most
important- his hunger burns. Andy knows he can win this event, he's done it before. He also knows he needs to get on
the board before Kelly runs away with the whole thing.
Bruce Irons- In my opinion the greatest tube rider -- ever -- that includes everyone. If he gets on a roll and the
waves are good, he will not be stopped -- by anyone.
CJ Hobgood- Top notch at Chopes in every size. Very smart
and very confident. Best goofyfoot at Teahupoo.
Wardo -Very hot or very, very cold. I keep losing
by picking Wardo, but sooner or later it will pay off…I
hope.
Occy - Very strong in small to mid-range Chopes. His
weakness will be if it gets big. Very timid in maxing
Teahupoo (I don't blame him). Coming off a strong
finish at Bells.
Pancho -Very solid in backside barrels. Some good
placings in the first events so his confidence is
up. Go Pancho!- Do it for Hawaii!
Mick Lowe -Of the cheap guys, he is the best at Chopes. An easy choice. Hasn't been doing real well the
last couple of years, but could do well in the hollow
lefts.
Paulo Moura -Cheap and can do well at Teahupoo.
Knows which waves to go on and has good positioning.
That's my team and I'm sticking with it. Under the cap too!
