CHANNEL ISLANDS DEMO: Surf Kelly's Board At Lowers

Friday, May 23 will be a notable day. Yes, it kicks off Memorial Day weekend, and, yes, celebrations will abound across the beaches of our good nation. However; there will be even more reason to celebrate at Lowers as Channel Islands will be hosting a board demo.

What better place to demo some of the best boards in the world? Ever wondered how you might feel on a Biscuit or a Pod? Try them out free of charge on the peeling lefts and rights down at the cobblestones of Lowers. May 23, the CI team will be down there all day with about forty boards as well as personal surfboards from Kelly Slater, Dane Reynolds, and more.

So get patriotic and light some fireworks at Lowers with Channel Islands.

This is sweet, but most of us would need to scale up the dims on those pro models to enjoy them. Sure I can ride Danes or kellys or Robs boards but fatten and stretch those potato chips first. My theory is that all the crew trying to ride kelly like boards in the nineties knocked at least 40% of the enjoyment of global surfing. We all overcall our surfing ability Be yourself, stay stoked.

Its fine to ride the pro dimensions, as long as you only do so in GOOD surf. If the surf is 3 foot and mushy, theres no way im gonna take out one of kelly or dane's paper chips. However if its overhead and pumping, im gonna surf way better on a paper-chip.
