CRASH THE COAST: An Epic East Coast Adventure Begins

Get ready. It's coming.

It's been a long time coming, but it's finally here. The hurricanes have come. The leaves have begun swirling. And SURFER has taken notice.

Starting tomorrow, SURFER will embark on an epic East Coast adventure armed with nothing but surfboards, a pickup truck, and pure, unadulterated optimism. We're starting our storm in Miami and trucking as far north as we can get in 14 days - aiming for the tip of Maine - maybe Nova Scotia if we're really lucky. It's hard to get too specific on a somewhat open-ended surf trip.

We hope to meet up with as many crews as possible along the way, getting to know what makes the place tick. So stay tuned for daily updates, photo galleries, and smorgasbord of all things east in the next two weeks. If you're posted on the Right Side and want to be a part of the expedition send me an email at zach@surfermag.com and hopefully we can stop by your hometown, your local surf shop, whatever you want...or tell us not to come by. That's cool too.

Come to Folly Beach, SC and throw down with the Macho Beach Noseriders. You can find us at the pier or at Woody's. Chances are the waves will be horrible so look us up at Woody's. yellow hats.

I have made the trip several times and you will without doubt come away with many memories. Dealing with the highway, cops, crack-heads, hotels (or your pick-up bed on a wet 33 degree night), and puffed up locals will be 90% of the trip. Camping at surfable state parks will make it all worth while. I now live in St. Augustine, FL(great state park on beach) . I recommend Indian River Inlet, DE., Cape Henlopen State Park, DE., Pt. Judith RI, and Wellfleet, MA(Cape Cod). Lock your truck and take everything inside if you can. I travel with my dogs and they always have a great time as well as keeping the kooks away. The surf has been very consistant for the last 8 weeks. Winter weather pattern is building. More often then not you will have solo sessions unless you call someone.
