First Occy Vs. Curren Heat Will Run Tonight at 10:15 p.m

The first of the two Clash of the Icons heats between Mark Occhilupo and Tom Curren will take place today at 7:15 a.m. local time (10:15 p.m. California time). And after watching the pair dominate the pre-contest session yesterday, it’s safe to assume that we’re in for an epic 30 minutes.

With the swell on the rise and a full day of competition scheduled, organizers have opted to run the heat first-thing in order to give American audiences the chance to witness the duel.

Out of the 16 career heats the pair surfed against each other, both have eight wins. Tomorrow’s heat will tip the scales in one direction or the other, at least until they surf their next heat, which is scheduled to take place between the semis and the finals. That heat should take place on Wednesday, conditions permitting.
