FREEDOM PROJECT
Switchfoot Member To Help End Slavery

If you thought that slavery ended in this country 200 years ago, you’d be wrong. The Freedom Project is an event taking place at the Hotel Menage in Anaheim on April 28, 2007 to raise money and awareness about the growing issue of human slavery.

"If you thought that slavery ended in this country 200 years ago, you’d be wrong"

Headed by spokeswoman and modern-day abolitionist Lily Beacham, the Freedom Project will benefit the International Justice Mission, a human-rights agency that rescues victims of violence, sexual exploitation, and slavery. “The money we raise that night will literally set people free,” said Beacham. The event will feature live music by Jon Foreman of the band Switchfoot, Speech from Arrested Development and DJs Trent Dean and Linney as well as a film screening, a silent art auction and fair-trade tasting room.

Human trafficking is a multi-billion dollar global industry that reaches its ugly hand into the shadows of our own backyards. The global sex trade business and the people it enslaves have become a serious problem. The Department of Justice estimates that 17,500 people are forced into prostitution, sweatshops, and domestic servitude in this country every year. But there is a new breed of American abolitionist bent on ending this epidemic. Join the Freedom Project at Hotel Menage on April 28, 2007 at 7 p.m. and become an abolitionist.
