TORO DE ROJO: Adam Replogle, Peter Mel, Shawn "Barney" Barron, Darryl "Flea" Virostko and Anthony Ruffo went to mainland Mexico on a Red Bull 5X trip. Red Bull will premiere the footage on July 29, 2003 at 6pm at Fred's Mexican Cafe in HB.
EDDIE CARES: Pearl Jam is doing a promo with Surfrider. They included a link to a trailer to what seems to be a documentary of George Greenough's contributions to surfing. The documentary is called "The State of S."
SURFRIDER IN BED WITH BIG MONEY CAPITALISTS: Surfrider and Hasbro are cooperating to release a surfing version of Monopoly.
LET THEM EAT KELP: The San Mateo County chapter of Surfrider drafted a compromise for PWC use in the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, but claims it was denied. The compromise was to allow tow-in surfing at Mavericks. This Surfrider chapter now wants to ban the use of PWCs in the sanctuary. FMI: cnelsen@surfrider.org

GETTIN' ALL ORGANIZED 'N SHEET: The Association of Professional Towsurfers (APT) announced the launch of its new website. And we received another email from Shawn Alladio regarding PWCs in Monterey Bay. She wants deregulation of PWCs in the bay. She wants PWCs to have the same privileges as other motorboats. She states that there have been no PWC-related deaths and only 10 citations given to PWCs in the last 10 years. FMI: K38RESCUE@aol.com
OPEN UP THE ESTUARY: The Army Corps of Engineers is going to reveal their plans for property protection on a 10-mile stretch of coast in Encinitas and Solana Beach at 6pm Thursday, July 24 in the Poinsettia Room Encinitas City Hall on Vulcan Ave. This project could jeopardize the wave quality at Cardiff Reef, Seaside Reef, Table Tops, and Swami's. POP TARTS: BIC Sport Surfboards and the PSTA are putting on a contest at Oside Pier on August 7th-10th. All contestants will be required to ride the BIC surfboards that will be provided.
