Note to judges, don't forget your spit guard.

Power quotient aside, the post-video consensus here was that the photographs from St. Jean were very convincing. But, people are gonna be pissed, because the wave at St. Jean is soft in relation to the other big wave venues. And I'm not taking anything away from the surfers who rode those mammoth swells that day at St. Jean. What they did was groundbreaking.

Our unofficial water cooler tally had one of those waves at St. Jean winning the event; it's just that some of us weren't overwhelmingly stoked about it.

Like the next huge swell, we'll just have to wait and see.

AHH, I SEE. NO AH-SIGH-EE: Jeremy Black stopped by the office the other day with a box load of the wondrous Brazilian fruit Acai. Black'scompany, Sambazon Acai (don't be fooled by imitators), imports the fruitin serving sized bags for your ease and enjoyment. Sambazon Acai is a blend of two fruits from the Amazon, acai (ah-sigh-ee) a purple palmfruit, and guarana (like a Brazilian Ginsing). The acai berries areturned into a pulp and frozen into little single serving packets. The frozen packets are then blended up with bananas and served thick in abowl with granola or as a smoothie. It has a taste like a blend of redwine and chocolate and it's packed with antioxidants and complex aminoacids. It's also rich in omega fatty acids, which reduce your bad cholesterol and raise your good cholesterol. I friggin' love this stuff, and I pound down Sambazon Acai smoothies all week long. You should too. Here are some more endorsements.

"Every year when the tour would go down to Brazil I'd all look forwardto being able to eat acai all week long", said Rob Machado, "you have all this energy and you're psyched all the time."

"It's good when you need energy, it's like fuel, you might as well just walk up to the gas tank and plug right in. I highly recommend it." --Luke Egan.

"I love it. I'd have it in my freezer and eat it everyday for breakfast and snacks all day." --Kelly Slater.

"It's so good on a hot day, are you kidding me, an ice-cold acai, it's the best thing in the world. We have everything in America and now we finally have this- it's the best thing ever." --Pat O'Connell.

Sambazon Acai is available at finer health food stores (in the freezer section) and juice bars all over the US. You can also order it direct to your door. Check www.sambazon.com for more info.
