The South African Charge Continues…

The first day was really terrible, but it improved through the week. The final day was really fun as the tide started coming in. by then I had the bank pretty sussed, so I was definitely feeling comfortable.

Things have changed a lot for Royden over the last year or so. What has happened to make you turn up the notch?

Seriously, I could write a book bro. to put it simply, I’m way more focused, I’m spending more time in the water and I’m spending less time in the night clubs.

Post event you take things pretty easy now as opposed to in the past. What do you do to chill after an event?

If I’m at home I do a lot of surf trips up and down the coast. These days I also cruise to places I’ve never been to in our country not only the coast.

Sounds cool. It’s the bane of a traveling person’s life. We never get to see our own country. Apart from Jordy (Smith) who do you reckon is the next big thing coming out of South Africa?

That Shaun Joubert kid is turning a couple of heads at the moment.

You’re always pushing it with the massive turns, and are making a name for starting to pull off those big flips. You wanna do that in contests eventually?
