Kelly Slater, Eddie Vedder and the boys going to town

Typically the annual opening ceremony of the Quiksilver Big Wave Invitational in Memory of Eddie Aikau is somewhat of a somber affair. Traditional Hawaiian chants ensue and a circle of big-wave warriors pay homage to the ocean and their fallen hero at Waimea Bay. And while that was still the case this year, the guys from Pearl Jam got together to take the festivities to an entirely new and different level. Playing up at Waimea Falls after the official ceremony, to a crowd of less than 200 amping surf stars Pearl Jam, along with guest rhythm-man, 8 time world champion Kelly Slater, played long into the night.
