They’re all heroes. Many I’d met prior.

BM
Were you the interviewer for all of them?

SP
I probably did the most of the interviews – Paul Crowder did quite a few and Sam did quite a few as well. Sam had not done too many on-camera interviews prior to this, so this film was a real learning process for him. He grew immensely while doing this film and was a joy to work with because he brought so much vigor to the edit bay every day. He just ate this project up.

BM
Who else worked on the project? I know Agi Orsi was a producer but I don't know who the editor was or anyone else? Who did what on your crew and who would you like to thank?

SP
Paul was a producer on this project and wasn’t able to edit it so we brought in T.J. Mahar who is a close friend of his and mine. T.J. has an almost identical back ground as Paul, having worked at Behind the Music on VH1. He’s a great editor and was perfect for this project. He will be cutting my new film. I’d like to thank all of the surfers who agreed to sit down with us, all of the surf photographers and cinematographers who worked with us and agreed to license footage with prices we were able to pay, and to our entire crew.

BM
Where is it going to show? Are you attempting Sundance with it?

SP
No film festivals. No theatrical release. Just straight to DVD although there might be a few outdoor screenings here and there. It was intended as another piece of the puzzle in surfing’s heritage, perfect for most surfer’s personal libraries.
