The Quiksilver Pro France has commenced ahead of time with the wildcard trials that took place at Capbreton’s famous " La Piste ".
Among the 8 surfers contending for the two coveted berths of a WCT contest were the best current European surfers with Miky picon (FRA), Fred Robin (FRA), Tim Boal (FRA), Alain Riou (TAH), Jeremy Flores (REU), Tiago Pires (PORT) and the outstanding young American, Dane Reynolds who won his heat against Andy Irons at the late Boost Mobile Pro in Trestles, California.
After a couple of qualifying heats, 4 surfers finished in the final: Gonzalez, Reynolds, Boal and Robin. Jonathan Gonzalez had already won his heat against Reynolds in the first round, is taking the upper hand again and leads till the end of the heat. Gonzalez is assured of a spot in the main event. The fight for second place is taken on by Tim Boal and Fred Robin.
The young Frenchman of Irish descendance is rapidly giving way to his elder. The experimented surfer knows the South West France’s beachbreaks by heart and hasn’t left the opportunity to another to join a WCT contest.
The third wildcard was granted to Tom Curren, 3 times world champion.
