"Normally I would say yes, but I just witnessed a 70-year-old man putting his wetsuit on backwards so I don't know anymore. It was interesting. But
I would have said yes before that." |
"Yeah - 'cause if you started out when you were 3 and then you got older I don't think you're going to be the same as when you were 3. Like, you're gonna be better when you're 23 than when you were 3." |
"Yeah. Occy is still on the 'CT. Kelly Slater, at 35, is probably going to win his ninth world title this year. As long as you have the stoke and take care of yourself, your performance level can keep getting better and better." |

"I think it improves with experience and practice. it sucks though when little kids who are like, killing it and like, you're out there and like, you really suck and you're like, 'okay, that's really cool' as someone 5 years younger than you flies by." |
"Definitely. I'm a fan of wine and cheese and think things just get better with age. Sure, you're not as radical as when you were younger but I plan to surf until I die, so if it doesn't keep getting better than I'm in trouble." |
"I don't think it ever stops getting better, I think it evolves. I'm not the best surfer in the world so I always have room for evolving I suppose. But I think the experience gets better as the years go along." |

"Yeah. Like you can't be a 3-year-old and get in-and-outs at Teahupoo. But you can't be a 50-year-old either, well I guess you can. Maybe 80 is too old. That's when you get crippled out there." |
"No. I've been doing it for a while and I still suck. I used to live near the beach and surfed five times a week. Now I live in LA and don't surf much. Now I'm so bad it's embarrassing." |
"I don't know about surfing, but style does. I think you're style progresses and you're not as aggro and you're more about feeling the wave rather than making the wave. You're just cruising a lot more." |
