Jordy Smith (Durban, SAfr) posted a near perfect wave score of 9.70 (out of a possible 10 points) to win his opening round heat of the Billabong World Junior Champs. Smith sidelined Ryan Campbell (Aus) & Taumata Pohetini (Tah) to the losers round, advancing directly to round three.
