GALLERY: Florida's Jupiter Pro 2005

The 5th Annual Jupiter Pro Fall Classic.

The event was held the weekend of November19th and 20th at Carlin Park behind the Jupiter Civic Center. The real prize this year outside of the surf was the support the event had acquired from the newly formed Brandolini Foundation. This foundation was created after the untimely death of a close member of the Jupiter surfing community, Lew Brandolini IV who died in a surfing accident while in Jamaica on May 11th. He shared his fathers love of surfing and together they had a desire to help underprivileged kids and young adults through sports, educational mentoring and scholarships thus becoming the creed that the Brandolini Foundation is based upon.

Ten members of the Jamaican National Surf Team headed by Team Captain and legendary reggae recording artist Billy Mystic where flown to the event courtesy of the Brandolini Foundation. With such good karma intact the event ran smoothly. The final day of competition saw a major cleanup of conditions as a three to four foot swell created more than an ample source of energy for the competition. Local standout Jensen Callaway ended up cleaning house by winning both the Junior Pro and Air Show divisions which total pocketed him a cool $2500.00. Deerfield Beach pro Skeeter Zimmerman narrowly edged out fellow DBer Wesley Desousa in the Mens Pro while the Womens division was taken by Cocoa Beach’s Christa Alves. The longboard final was super close but it was Cocoa Beach’s Charlie Broughton who sidestepped his way from the nose and into the winner’s circle ahead of Solana Beach’s Darren Ledingham.

Both nights offered entertainment at the Civic Center with Lance-O spinning and premiering "A Surfers Diary" while the following night the locals were stoked with the premiere of "NRG CRISIS, SurfNRG v.13" and live performances by HIT SHOW and BOXELDER.

Special thanks go out to all the sponsors including First National Bank, Ocean Magic, Ground Swell, Great Scott Productions, RJ Gibsons Media and of course the Brandolini Foundation.
