The Big Island has given Casey Brown role models like Shane Dorian and Conan Hayes, and contemporaries like Torrey Meister and Tonino Benson. Standing over six feet tall, Brown dismantles waves with a lead foot. Larger than his Big Island brethren, his surfing is taking on more manly, powerful characteristics. At the same time, he can grovel with the best of them when the conditions call for it. With aerial flair, and an impressive track record on the WQS and Junior tours, as well as multiple strong showings at Nationals-Brown narrowly missed winning Nationals in '06 when he was hit with a questionable interference call during the final-he has the competitive savvy to shake things up. Often described as hungry, Brown will focus primarily this year on establishing his seed on the WQS, while also expanding his photo exposure via a travel-heavy schedule in 2007.
