63| Zack Humphreys Birthday: August 8, 1989 Hometown:Margate, New Jersey With the path being blazed by hearty professionals like Sam Hammer and Dean Randazzo, there’s more zeal, more hunger than ever on the Jersey shore. Zack Humphreys is a key component in that burgeoning northeast talent pool. A solid little regular-footer from a one-square mile speck of coast on Absecon Island, Humphreys rolls with a talented pack, including “phenomagrom” Balaram Stack and powerhouse Rob Kelly. A cold winter’s day in Jersey doesn’t exactly have the same allure as an azul day in Hawaii, so getting out of town and into some warm water’s going to help raise Humphreys exposure…and when it’s 15 below on the beach, I’m sure he’s the last person we need to tell. 64| Cody Thompson Birthday: July 29, 1989 Hometown: Jacksonville, Florida One of the brightest competitive stars coming out of Florida at the moment, Cody Thompson is a distinguished member of the U.S.A. surf team and has excelled both in the ESA and the NSSA. A fifth place finisher at nationals in 2005, Thompson has since lit it up in the Billabong Surfrat series as well as other brand sponsored specialty events, including a very respectable fourth place at the highly competetive Fear at the Pier event in 2006. A well-rounded regualr footer Thompson is as comfortable in the air as he is behind the curtain. with a knack for keeping it on rail, his power and strength will continue to develop as he grows 65| Chris Waring Birthday: February 5, 1987 Hometown: Seal Beach, California For a long time Chris Waring has been a big fish in a small pond, achieving tremendous successes throughout California, most notably on the Orange County scene. A meticulous student of surfing’s competitive side, Waring’s a nimble regular-footer with an affinity for flying. While nobody’s claiming a WCT future for this guy, he will be a standout in California lineups for years to come. |
