Roaming the beachbreaks near Folly Beach, not too far from Myrtle, South Carolina’s unofficial surf capital, Cam Richards is as ambitiously surf-stoked as any grommet out there. With his older brother Cole blazing the way, Richards is rising through the ranks of the Eastern Surfing Association quickly. Notching up wins at the 44th Annual East Coast Surfing Championships and the East Coast Scholastic Championships, as well as being named a 2007 ESA all-star, it’s only a matter of time before Richards drops a big result on the country and lets everybody know he’s the real deal. Quick from bottom turn to off the top for his age, Richards’s blend of turns, slides, and airs, already a proven asset, will only continue to help him as he starts experimenting in more diverse conditions.
