3 | Rosanne Hodge Birthday:April 27, 1987 Hometown: East London, South Africa Proving to the world that South Africa isn’t just home to some of the best up-and-coming guys in the world, Rosanne Hodge is getting it done on the girl’s side of the draw. The former South African junior girls’ champ is a powerful regularfooter who lists small waves as her biggest weakness, which tells you a lot about her character. With a stellar performance on the women’s WQS last year, Hodge will be setting out on her rookie year on the WCT in 2007. While she may be one of the youngest girls on tour this year, to her credit she’s had the benefit of surfing almost every stop in either a trials capacity or simply freesurfing while on the road. She notes that right-hand points are where she excels most, which isn’t much of a surprise considering where she comes from. With plenty of perfect points right in her backyard, she’s spent a lifetime tuning her style and rail work, plus, with all of the talent that’s coming out of South Africa right now, she definitely has a progressive perspective. |
