5| Coco Ho Birthday:April 28, 1991 Hometown: Pupukea, Hawaii Born and raised on the North Shore, the daughter of a legend, the sister of a ripping older brother, it was only a matter of time before Coco Ho upheld the family tradition. With a win at the Billabong Junior Pro in Memory of Ronnie Burns this year, where she beat good friend Carissa Moore in the final, Ho qualified for the World Junior Championships at North Narrabeen, Australia. She ended her run in Australia with a third-place overall finish. A stylish regularfooter with a penchant for big turns and busting 360s, Ho’s surfing continues to mature and develop. Thanks to her upbringing, for her age she’s remarkably comfortable in big waves and powerful conditions. But then, on the flip side, spending so many days a year at Rocky Point ripping with the boys has given her an eye for innovation and a knack for putting her board in critical parts of the wave. In high school now, Ho’s also making sure the education is in place so she’ll be prepared for all the funny little things life tends to throw at you. |
